Abstract This paper briefly introduces the role of the seismic monitoring system used in nuclear power plants, and carries on the design of its hardware and software based on the standards of seismic monitoring systems. Wuhan Institute of Seismologic Instrument produced a series of products, which are successfully applied in practice. Finally, combined with the current development trends of nuclear power plants, the paper presents the developmental requirements of the seismic monitoring system.
